Warren Dunes State Park

One of the first items that went on our summer bucket list was a trip to Warren Dunes State Park. Not only were the cans in our garage piling up (Michigan does $.10 a can), but we enjoyed the couple of trips we took last year. The beach is clean and stretches for miles. If the girls get tired of the sand and water, they can always scale the huge dune and there are usually food trucks. We brought along a friend of Ireland's who is a bona fide lake girl. Liesel stayed behind to hang out with friends so it was just the little ones on this trip.

I told Ireland's friend we are very serious about sunscreen and she lathered on so much her face was almost completely white! She didn't burn though!

I'm obsessed with this picture of Ireland. She looks like such a beach girl- I need to frame it!

We had to snap some photos by the tree with all the exposed roots.

While Ireland and her friend were either climbing the dunes or getting food from the food truck, Brigitta and Sydney chummed around. Normally they fight like cats and dogs but give them a little sand and water and they are happy as can be!

They seemed intent on finding as many ways as possible to cover themselves head to toe in sand.

It will take me until February to get all that sand out of the car.

No matter, look at those smiles of genuine delight!

It was really good to see them getting along...

...making memories.

We've just never had a really bad day at the beach. There's something about it that brings out the joy in everyone.
